    Mistakes Made in Logo Design

We are surrounded by logos everywhere – on billboards, clothes, shelves, or cars passing us by. Designing logos that will delight us just as much now as in 20 years is quite a challenge.

Some are captivating, others remain completely unnoticeable. Third, however, are ill-considered, which is why they can sometimes arouse amusement, or at most a smile of pity. So what are the most common mistakes in logo design and how to avoid them?

    1. Too much is unhealthy. Or: less is more.
A logo with too many elements will be illegible. What counts is a simple, clear message, which we will not find in a design with too many details. Let us take the rebranding carried out by Apple as an example here:

    1

    2. Copying, or “over-inspiration” – this is one of the biggest mistakes made by designers. Unfortunately, there is a big chance that sooner or later the similarity will be exposed, and it is difficult to get rid of the label of a plagiarist.

    3. Colors – choosing the right color scheme is not as easy as it may seem. There are many issues associated with introducing a brand to the market that need to be properly considered, and one of them is the choice of colors. It is not only about the colors used being “nice”. You should pay attention to the psychology of colors and that the logo is not too colorful – it is not recommended to use more than 4 colors.

    4. Bad choice of font.
The font is one of the most important elements of the logo, and an inappropriate choice can ruin the entire project. It is recommended not to use more than two types of fonts in one project. Otherwise, the logo may become illegible, and as a result – the message will not be understood by the recipient.

The last on the list is the logo with a “surprise”. It’s hard to comment on this in any way. In short, it’s a situation in which the logo resembles something completely different than the author intended.

Of course, these are not all the mistakes that a designer can make. Many people forget about the power of a well-designed logo. It is a kind of business card for a company, so it should look professional. There are many rules in logo design, but the most important thing is that it should be a combination of aesthetics, readability and usability.
