In the process of taking over companies, sometimes the brand name has to change, similarly when the brand has unfavorable social connotations (see the case of the Polish brand of petrol stations CPN, which was changed to Orlen). When we change the brand name, i.e. its key signal, we talk about rebranding.
How did the forced name change become a factor in success?
For a chain of electrical wholesalers (formerly Elektroskandia), one of the key players on the Polish market, we carried out a rebranding process related to the change of ownership (the new owner was the Würth Group). The company’s management clearly defined the goals and scope of rebranding work – we aimed to preserve the greatest possible benefits from the brand’s history to date while building a completely new, strongly distinguishing image on the market.
The diagnosis of the initial situation combined with an audit of the brand perception by Customers and Employees indicated the key features and values for the brand, which became the basis for building a new name. This is how Enexon was created – a name derived from Ene (from energy) and xon (a part of the name that gives dynamism, thinking about the future). We tested the name online in a selected group of the company’s contractors and among Employees.
The next step in our project was to create a unique visual style for the brand. We were inspired by industry-related electrical design schemes. We used them creatively – lines and impulse became the basis for the brand’s KeyVisual elements.
The process continued with the design of practically all media used in everyday work. We developed a full package of sales materials (for 3 main groups of recipients), prepared office signage designs and gift designs. Another important element was the development of the principles of communication in social media (LinkedIn, YT, Facebook) together with the Enexon marketing department and the development of graphic designs used in advertising campaigns (Google Ads and FB Ads).
At the same time, we were asked to create a completely new interior design for the wholesale outlets and their external signage. After analyzing the needs of our clients, we proposed combining very cheap materials in the interiors (OSB board) with metal, matte black elements combined with details in a strong, orange color scheme characteristic of the brand. In addition to the project, we also took care of the comprehensive implementation of the signage area throughout Poland.
We prepared clickable mockups, documentation and implemented the Enexon corporate website, designed implementation documentation and mockups for eCommerce implemented by the Estonian Partner of the Wurth Group and designed the concept of a mobile application for Partners.
The result? A strong and modern brand that has maintained customer trust and solidified its market position.
