ENEXON
The eCommerce mockup process of the electrical wholesale network belonging to the Wurth Group.
About Enexon and our mission
Enexon is a chain of electrical wholesalers belonging to the Wurth Group. After completing the rebranding project for the Enexon brand, we were asked to perform a consulting project and develop documentation for the implementation of an extended eCommerce in Magento 2.0 technology. The implementation was carried out by an Estonian software house serving the Wurth Group.
Analysis before the design stage
Due to the specificity of the project, the pre-implementation analysis stage was extensive and based on a series of workshops. It included an analysis of requirements collected from the Product Owner on the Enexon side, an analysis of the functionality of e-shops of competing wholesale chains in Poland and the collection of implementation guidelines from the softwarehouse (including the principles of integration with the internal ERP and PiM – a management system for over 60,000 products on the platform).
List of views and functionalities
As part of preparing the documentation, we started by agreeing on a category tree with the Client and selected model products for this tree along with descriptions, photo and video content, technical cards and prices. In addition, we developed a list of views in desktop and mobile versions along with user flow descriptions and criteria for receiving specific processes.
Design and
mockup of an e-commerce prototype
Based on the functional specification and business processes prepared together with the Client, we designed 96 unique desktop views (including home, product category view, views specific to various product types, basket, manufacturer’s brand pages, views after logging in to the Client’s profile, views of individual promotion types), we developed a design system facilitating the design of subsequent views, and we created a clickable mockup prototype with implementation guidelines for developers.
Adaptation of the desktop version to mobile
The main screens, i.e. home, basket and product view, are always designed at the same time as the desktop, and this was the case here. We designed the rest of the detailed views after we had finished working on the desktop version.
In mobile design, we found it particularly difficult to combine the functional requirements of users, the presentation expectations of the client and the assumptions regarding visual consistency with the approved branding.
