    The Book of the Sign – what is it?

    If anyone is wondering whether the Brand Book is necessary, we answer – yes, it is. Of course, you can live without it, but it can be very helpful in many matters and it is the foundation of building the image of every company. It should contain, above all, a description of the structure of the logo and the fonts, the colors used, or an example of the logo display.

    In other words, the Brand Book is a description of the structure of the logo and information related to the correct use of the logo, and its main task is based on maintaining a uniform image of a given brand.

    The Brand Book in its most basic version includes 7 topic cards containing basic elements and 3 cards with examples of the use of the logo. It consists of:

    1. Description of the meaning of the sign, which is an introduction to the symbolism of the sign.
    2. Description of the structure of the sign, presenting its structure using a construction grid.
    3. The colors of the sign, i.e. the colors that make up the logo. All of them are presented in three color spaces: RGB, CMYK and PANTONE.
    4. The protective field of the sign, containing rules relating to the space around the logo that is to remain intact. This guarantees that the logo will always remain legible.
    5. Logo versions, i.e. different color variants.
    6. Issues related to typefaces and their font size.
    7. Examples of correct and incorrect versions of the logo. In practice, this means a list of logos that were designed using incorrect proportions, in unacceptable colors, or placed on an inappropriate background.

    Should we create a Sign Book?

    The above explanation of what the Brand Book is should partly answer this question. It is also worth noting that by having the Brand Book we lose nothing, on the contrary – we can gain a lot. Especially in situations where the consistency of the graphic image is an important factor in implementing the company’s development strategy, or in a situation where we plan to have a large number of different advertising materials.

    Additionally, the information about our logo contained in the book will be extremely useful and helpful for advertising agencies and graphic designers whom we have commissioned to create various types of advertising materials. Respecting the data contained in the Brand Book will make the company’s advertising materials uniform, and the company’s image itself will be uniform.
